The Pirate Alphabet: A E I O U and sometimes ARRRRRRR
Okay, so I know I'm occasionally a little lax on my security. I'm not
too worried about someone "obtaining" information from my computer.
Now I'd really prefer they didn't, but I'm afraid whoever "hacks" in is going to
be astoundingly bored. There's no porn, no credit card numbers, no juicy
tidbits about my life. You'd have better luck on my Live Journal
than on my home PCs. My home computers are really just
gaming/surfing/graphic computers. That's ALLL they do. Okay.. yeah
maybe, just maybe I might have a few *cough* mp3's, but nothing of huge
particular interest.
Well anyway we moved recently and had a computer hardware/networking guru set
up our system. This included Wi-Fi. Well last night I was in my router
fussing with the ability to do some p2p with a friend and found two anomalies
when it came to people being logged into MY internet connection. We have
exactly four computers. This means that only exactly four computers should be on
our network... and honestly only two are Wi-Fi. So I see Rods_PC and
TomCruz floating around and have been logged on each for about 24 hours solid.
To nuts with that is my opinion. I am not Starbucks, and I do mind sharing
my bandwidth, so it was the SMACK DOWN for that. I now have only two Mac
addresses enabled for my wireless and my freeloading neighbors can go get their
own internet connection.
So that leaves me to wonder. Will they notice that the networks new
name is "Rods_Pc and TomCruz no pirating!"? Still fighting with the p2p
thing, and it reminds me that I desperately need to brush up on my networking
abilities. I've even gotten through a few Cisco courses.. for all the good it
seems to have done. Of course I completely admit to having the memory of a
goldfish, so yeah. *Shrug* If I don't use it I lose it, and I don't network.
My mom's fiancé is the network admin for Kenworth, why have my amateurish
abilities unleash when I can have a pro tell me I'm doing it wrong and then do
it right?
Oh yeah, wait I remember... I should do that so I don't have to rely on
others. hmm... well I dunno such things are darn good excuses to see my
mom, and I like my mom, so nope somehow doubt I'm going to plunge headlong into
that in the uber near future. *Shrug* What Can I say, I'm lazy
